Small White

Another familiar garden butterfly, the Small White usually emerges in late April for a brief showing, before a much more numerous second brood emerges in late June or early July.  As Latchmore has both this species and the very similar Green-veined White, there may be some instances of mis-identification across the two.  Generally, the Small White prefers the more open heath and farmland habitats, whereas the Green-veined White is found nearer the woods.
