Dark Green Fritillary

Not seen in Latchmore for the first three years of monitoring, the Dark Green Fritillary favours open grassland, has a strong flight and is easily disturbed, so could have been missed.  It is occasionally found around the thorn scrub which borders the Latchmore Brook near Ogdens, at the start of the route.  It is similar in appearance to the Silver-washed Fritillary, which frequents the wooded enclosures at the other end of the monitored route, but the Dark Green often emerges earlier.
